A short video on travel Insurance...

As I mentioned earlier, here is the second video from our shoot, focusing on Travel Insurance. All were designed to be under 2 minutes in length. The internet has shortened our attention span.

The Finished Product...

About a month ago, I blogged about doing a video shoot on Life Insurance videos and related topics. Well, the finished product has been completed and we have now been slowly uploading the to youtube, and also embedding those same videos on our site. If you are here now and don't have time to check out our Life Insurance channel on youtube.

Here is the first one I will post.

Another great Seminar

This morning, we had another fantastic seminar in Mississauga, in conjunction with Robert Carter, from Industrial Alliance, one of our
Life Insurance suppliers. This was the second seminar sponsored by IA.

In May, we are having another seminar in Cambridge, sponsored by another one of our suppliers. Details and invitations will be sent out later this month.

Seminar Preparation

It takes a lot to host a seminar. As an attendee, you get your invitation, book it off in your calendar, and show up, pay attention, learn some things, get your CE credits and go home. Now that I sit on the other side of the fence, a lot goes into hosting a seminar. Next week, The Benefit Guys are hosting their 2nd Seminar on the 21st Century Insurance consumer in the Missisauga area.
This has been planned for months. First, you need to book a date, and find a suitable room. Second, you need substance. Why are people going to come and listen to us? So, we have partnered with a Life Insurance company, or in industry terms, a product supplier to help put on a presentation. Third, and most importantly, driving traffic. How do we get people there?
We have sent out a lot of emails to our contacts, and have had a fairly decent response rate to date. We will send a final reminder later this week, as a successful seminar is only as good as it's subject matter, and having satisfied attendees. We believe we have an interesting story to tell.

So, if you are in the area, have the morning of Tuesday March 9th on your calendar open, drop us a line at info@thebenefitguys.ca to register, or go to our Affiliate registration page and fill in the form. It is as simple as that. We'll take care of the rest.

The Countdown begins...

Well, it is almost 1pm, and we are waiting for the video production company to arrive. We are set up, scripts in hand, white boards, easel's, cue cards...what are we missing? Well hopefully the camera's will be here soon. We have an ambitious goal to shoot 40+ video's regarding Life Insurance. It is hard to come up with 40 different ideas, let alone go achieve what we intend to do in 4 hours.
There is the doorbell, time to put the wheel in motion. More later.

Preparation for Video shoot...

I write this on the eve of The Benefit Guys' first professional video shoot. We always knew the importance of video's on the internet, and always knew how they would be used and how they would work. Well the time has finally come, and tomorrow we are doing our first professinal video shoot.
For the past week, topics have been thought about, added, deleted, amended, you name it. The challenge is, there is so many hours in a day to get everything done. For example, the video company is contracted for 4 hours. We are going to try to shoot a bunch of different videos reagarding, Life Insurance, Travel Insurance, Group Insurance, Disability Insurance and the list goes on. The purpose is to help you, the consumer, get a bit more educated on something you know that is important, but may not quite understand how it will work.

Not only are we doing this for the consumers, we are also doing some sales videos, to help our Affiliates. One of the things to consider, is since the video's will be released over several weeks, you have to factor in a few wardrobe changes, you know, stuff like that. Believe it or not, more time went into the preparation, than the actual shoot. It is just another reminder that preparation is important to anything you do. So, if you are reading this, look for the first videos on our website, www.thebenefitguys.ca in a few short weeks.

Some Seminars are better than others...

I once heard an expression, when the Student is ready, the Teacher will appear. When you think about it, it is kind of profound. The last few days, I have felt ready. After another late night and early morning, I really wanted to roll over and go back to sleep this morning, but I couldn't. I am one of these guy who when I give you my word, it is good. I was enrolled in a Seminar about Universal Life Insurance this morning at one of our Suppliers. The presenter was very well versed in the Life Insurance industry. He has been around for a number of years.
The seminar was basically a refresher that looked at Universal Life Insurance. The presenter broke Universal Life Insurance it down into 6 parts, and used a restaraunt / buffet analogy to describe the different parts. After 10 pages of notes, I realized that the presenter was taking the complex, and making it simple. That is the type of person I can understand and relate to. I look forward to implementing this knowledge in 2010.

Life Insurance for Long and Short Term Planning

Life Insurance For Long and Short Term Planning

It's been a busy week...

The Life Insurance business can be busy sometimes. If it doesn't involve prospecting, or selling, or completing paperwork and follow up calls, then I guess it wouldn't be a business. As an MGA, we not only look after our own business, but act as the filter between that of other broker / advisor's and the insurance company. We do just look after Life business, also Travel Insurance and Group Insurance business too.
So as you can see it is important to develop systems and use tools to help streamline the process. This will be one of the topics at our next advisor seminar in March.

Speaking of tools, I found a great new service a month or so ago involving Twitter followers. If you are reading this blog, you are probably internet savvy enough to know what Twitter is. Twitter has become an important tool in social media. If you go to Twiends.com, it helps you add and develop twitter followers on a credit system. It is a fantastic tool, and I personally have add a few hundred followers using this service. Time is pretty precious, and this is just a tool that allows you to free up some time. While you are there, check me out, my twitter name is jordankovats. Our company twitter name is thebenefitguy. Hope to see you soon.

Looking forward to the New Year...

Yesterday began with a meeting of the minds of the founders and partners of The Benefit Guys. It was fairly relxed, our plans and goals for the year were outlined, and put into action. I was able to learn how to manage more of our website, just in time for some minor cosmetic and content revision that started taking place last night. There were a couple nervous moments when one of the webpages go lost in cyber space. However, a relaxed, strategic approach, in combination with practical experience of navigating more in behind the scenes of the site, allowed me to find it a bit later.
Enough of that.
The Benefit Guys have decided to change a bit of our branding involving Life Insurance advisors we work with. If you have visited our site before, you will notice some of the changes I described in the paragraph above.
Our newsletter campaign will be starting again next week. Life Insurance advisors will get the first taste of the new "branding" in this months edition.
It was a nice start to a day to recieve an inquiry about affiliation with our company. Our philosophy, and approach is spreading. This will be a great year for everyone affiliated with The Benefit Guys.
As usual, my plate is full, my time is short, my list is long, and my responsibilities are many, so I must go and prepare for a couple articles to be written and published in the next litte while.
If there is such a thing as a goal for the new year, mine is a bunch of little ones all rolled into one. Organize, plan, do it right, do it once, finish what you start, and if it needs redoing, go back to the first word in the sentence. Sometimes, some things just take a little bit longer than you expect, but if it is done right, it will never have to be redone.
